Low Maintenance Gardens

A garden can never be NO maintenance, there is always a weed to kill or a plant that is blocking out a pretty neighbouring shrub. Personally, I love my easy, low maintenance plot... but that is because I am normally so busy designing and planting other peoples gardens! I can go outside at any time, and there WILL be one or two (or twenty) reliable weeds growing, but overall, the garden always looks lush and green, which is exactly how I want to enjoy my garden.

The trick is to create an interesting design, utilising good hard landscaping materials. Planting, the combination of which is carefully selected, becomes the background and looks good in all seasons. Mixed foliage shapes and sizes place emphasis on the texture and form, a lighting design scheme can be used to accentuate this further.

Low maintenance plots can be contemporary, classic or very naturalistic, a good design will ensure that time spent in the garden is for relaxing only!
