Herb Gardens
My Herb Garden favourites;
- Basil - Ocimum basilicum - A favourite in Italian cuisine, it's far better fresh than dried, I always use it to top moussaka or lasagne.
- Borage - Borago officinalis - A good companion plant for tomatoes and bees absolutely love it!
- Chives - Allium schoenoprasum - Smallest of the onion family, also very good for attracting bees.
- Coriander - Coriandrum sativum - Used in so many food styles, from African, Asian, Mediterranean and Indian.
- Lemon balm - Melissa officinalis - A favourite in my garden as the leaves repel mosquitoes - and have a fantastic scent too!
- Parsley - Petroselinium crispum - Another good companion plant for growing tomatoes, freezing retains the flavour much better than drying.
- Rosemary - Rosmarinus officinalis - Native to the Medditerranean but grows very well in most UK gardens, always gets added to my roast potatoes!
